This question gets asked more and more.

Does NPCrowd.com allow guest posts? Yes, we do! Sharing experience and knowledge in the nonprofit space is what NPCrowd is all about.

Here are some quick guidelines to get you started.

Article topics must be pre-approved. I know, you’re eager to write your article and link back to your site. No problem. But hold on. In order to make sure your time is spent well, reach out and let us know a few sentences about the content you are proposing to write.

ORIGINAL CONTENT only. We do not accept duplicate or syndicated content as guest posts. If your post has appeared anywhere else on the web, we can’t publish it here. If you quote other content, link to it and cite your references. Use a plagiarism checking tool, because we do. :)

Posts should be 1,000 – 1,500+ words in length. For the NPCrowd community, this is a sweet spot, and you’ll fit in with the rest of our authors and content. Longer is good, too.

Break up your content, so it’s easy to read. This means including headings, subheadings, bullets, and any other visual elements to increase the readability of your piece.

Write in a natural, conversational tone. The content we post should be authoritative, but not robotic. Don’t shy away from bringing your sense of humor and good nature to your articles. We also stay out of the mud and the negativity in the world. Keep the content rated PG.

Name your sources. Yes, you’re an expert, but our readers might not know that. So, use cites sources to prove your point. If you’re going to refer to statistics(ie: “open rates jumped 55 percent overnight”), link back to, or at least cite, the original source. APA style references are eagerly accepted.

Your real-world experience matters. You’ve lived it. Now share it. That experience is valuable to help other nonprofit leaders. Talk about mistakes, plans you’ve built, and strategies you’ve executed. What was the result? Draw on your own personal experience to speak authoritatively about what you know.

Take a position. If you disagree with common wisdom on a topic, talk about why the mainstream point of view is wrong or misleading. Back up your perspective with facts. Take screenshots. Include interesting data. Support your arguments with external references.

Submit your article in MS Word, Google Document, or plain text file. PDF’s while pretty, can’t be accepted since migrating the document to our website is time-consuming. WordPad, NotePad can also be used if you prefer.
